SwolfPy MCP runtime and limitations

Python compatibility, lifecycle recovery, long-running jobs, scientific scope, and licensing boundaries.

Use the qualified runtime

  • Python 3.10
  • SwolfPy 1.4.0
  • SciPy 1.8.0
  • A compatible Brightway stack
  • Graphviz where required by the SwolfPy environment

The MCP package declares Python 3.10+, but SwolfPy 1.4.0 pins SciPy 1.8.0. Documentation-only imports on newer Python versions do not qualify the calculation runtime.

Keep operation keys for recoverable projects

Project creation can use an operation_key. Keep it when restart recovery matters; the lifecycle journal can distinguish in-progress, stale, failed, ready, recovered, and disposed operations.

Scientific limits

The server exposes SwolfPy and Brightway calculations. It does not independently validate waste composition, treatment assumptions, functional units, LCIA method choice, uncertainty distributions, optimization constraints, or the operational feasibility of an optimized waste allocation.

Licensing

SwolfPy is an independent GPL-2.0 project. The SDAI MCP adapter currently declares MIT. Review third-party licensing requirements before redistributing upstream code, documentation, databases, or other assets.
