DWSIM MCP integration
Connect MCP clients to the headless MCP server included in upstream DWSIM.
Upstream DWSIM functionality
DWSIM includes a headless Model Context Protocol server in the upstream DWSIM repository. SDAI documents and qualifies this integration path, but does not own or release the upstream DWSIM MCP server.
Note
The reviewed public release is DWSIM v10.2.9. Local SDAI research patches are not included in the public behavior described here.
What the server exposes
The reviewed v10.2.9 runtime registers 53 MCP tools covering flowsheets, thermodynamics, streams, unit operations, steady-state solving, diagnostics, dynamics, and headless graphics.
- Create, load, save, inspect, and close flowsheets.
- Select compounds and property packages.
- Create and inspect material and energy streams.
- Add, connect, configure, and inspect unit operations.
- Check and solve steady-state models with diagnostics.
- Configure and analyze supported dynamic simulations.
- Create headless graphics and screenshots.
Transports and endpoints
- stdio
- HTTP JSON-RPC at POST /mcp
- server-sent events at GET /sse
- health checks at GET /health
The reviewed MCP handshake reports protocol version 2024-11-05.
SDAI qualification scope
SDAI reproduced the upstream v10.2.9 source build and a Docker workflow on ARM64. The steady-state qualification completed a Water → Mixer case with zero solver errors. Dynamic qualification then completed a Water valve–tank transient and a timed inlet-flow step event through the same public MCP surface.
Warning
This qualifies the tested integration paths. It does not validate every DWSIM unit operation, thermodynamic method, controller, dynamic model, or engineering design.
