BioSTEAM / QSDsan MCP
Build and inspect process systems, run TEA and foreground impact calculations, and explore uncertainty or optimization through MCP.
Overview
BioSTEAM / QSDsan MCP exposes process-system construction, simulation, stream and unit inspection, TEA, foreground impact accounting, sanitation-system metrics, uncertainty, sensitivity, optimization, and result lifecycle operations to MCP-compatible clients.
Version 0.4.1 exposes 24 tools, including explicit background jobs for uncertainty and optimization.
Modeling engines
- BioSTEAM for process simulation and techno-economic analysis.
- ThermoSTEAM for chemical and thermodynamic state.
- QSDsan for sanitation and resource-recovery systems.
- Optional published biorefinery models from the biorefineries package.
LCA boundary
Warning
get_lca_results is a foreground impact calculation using caller-supplied characterization factors. It is not a complete background-database LCA engine. Record the provenance, units, geography, temporal basis, and method context of every factor you supply.
Model review
Convergence is necessary but not sufficient. Thermodynamics, scale-up assumptions, equipment sizing, cost correlations, system boundaries, characterization factors, and optimization objectives all require engineering review.
